The Boltons Residence, SW10

Originate Architects

Peter Lieberman Project Management

Photography : Michael Sinclair.

We have known Peter Lieberman for over twenty years, so it was exciting to work with him again on this project in the Boltons South Kensington. The 1850s townhouse at a prestigious address, had suffered a series of unsympathetic, period-inappropriate alterations over the years. The clients had instructed London-based Originate Architects to create a design which opened up the rooms and created a modern, flowing living space while respecting the original room layouts. The palette was limited to white and soft gray. We painstakingly restored and replaced original details throughout, including the crown, cove and wall moldings, as well as tailored wood mantels. Worn floors were replaced with new light oak boards, laid in a herringbone pattern and light was flooded into the breakfast nook with a full wall of glass and a slanted skylight. We are proud to say that this project was featured in Mid-Century Modern (high end furniture in collectors’ Interiors) as well as The Pages London Calling ‘A TownHouse Spans Centuries’.
